Presented by Florida Power & Light (FPL) Principal Engineer of Technical Services, Clark Williams, at IMCORP’s 44th Technology Users’ Group Meeting
Abstract: FPL is investing billions to underground URD MV circuits to not only improve day-to-day reliability but to improve storm resiliency so Florida can quickly get back to doing business. Along with this massive investment, FPL is making efforts to ensure longevity, especially the quality of field-constructed cable systems. This presentation reviews FPL’s assessment of risk, a pre- and post-ROI analysis, stakeholder consensus development, pilot implementation, and both the challenges and benefits realized.
